Pro-training Frequently Asked Questions

  • Pro-train requirements for aerial:

    • A reference from a coach/professional aerial or circus artist

    • 250 training hours

    • 4 consecutive inverts in the air, without pushing off the floor

    • Ability to do a pull-up in the air, not jumping off the floor

    • Be in the air safely for at least 3 minutes

    • A 1 minute video of you doing a sequence on your apparatus of choice (please do not just cut to you doing drops in the air)

    Pro-train requirements for ground based disciplines: 

    • A reference from a coach/professional in your discipline

    • 250 training hours

    • A 1 minute video of you in your discipline of choice (you can send multiple videos)

  • No, we ask that you register for a point in advance of your training time.

  • No. Your coach needs to be a pro-train member with coaching insurance on file. The coach will need to rent the point and they are liable for the session.

  • No. All members need to be pro-train members so that everyone in the building meets the requirements for pro-train. 

  • Yes. You rent the point according to your membership.

  • If you hold coaching/aerial teaching insurance. 

  • Yes. Rentals are by the point, not the person. However, everyone needs to be a pro-train member. If one of those members is a pro-train drop-in member, the point will need to be rented at the drop-in rate.

  • Personal insurance will cover you as an individual for your aerial practice. Coaching/aerial teaching insurance is more substantial and will cover both you as a coach as well as the students you are coaching.

  • You can attend an open gym. If you meet pro-training requirements, you can get registered as a member and attend our staffed pro-train sessions.

  • Yes, we offer many different levels of series classes plus drop-in classes. You can also attend open gym if you meet the open gym requirements.

  • Both have the same access to the studio space, however monthly memberships will allow you to train all month at one price. Drop-in memberships require you to pay each time you train.

  • Anything that is listed on your insurance policy. If you are starting a new discipline, you will need to update your insurance plan to reflect this then resubmit to A-WOL.

  • You will need to get an insurance policy that covers coaching and up to the height you are coaching at. If you aren’t training in the air (i.e. cyr wheel, dance, yoga, tumbling etc), you will need to provide proof of coaching insurance for the apparatus that you are coaching. These are the insurance requirements for A-WOL’s various point rentals: 

    Main Stage Points Height = 29 feet

    Mat Stage Point Height = 22 feet

    Annex Point Height = 29 feet

  • Yes. If you have an insurance claim and need a video recording, please email director@awoldance.org within 24 hours of the incident. 

  • You can coach any discipline that you are professionally trained and competent in training, and that your insurance covers. Your insurance policy should reflect what you are coaching and A-WOL should be listed as additionally insured. Your insurance policy needs to be shared with A-WOL prior to coaching.

  • We have dance trapezes, silks, slings, rope, single or double point lyras. You can inquire about additional apparatuses by emailing fly@awoldance.org.

  • The building is open for training from 5:00am to 10:00pm. The schedule may change depending on other A-WOL activities such as workshops and performances.

  • No. You need to book the point as a coaching rental. The staffed pro-train rentals are only for personal training. 

  • Please make sure your equipment and rigging is coming from an established circus/aerial manufacturer. Do not buy from Amazon. If you have any questions about recommendations please email fly@awoldance.org

  • All points include a swivel and carabiner to clip your apparatus to. We have at a minimum two 3:1 pulley lines.

  • We do not allow fire, german wheel, or tap shoes. No chairs or items that can puncture the mat floor. Please email fly@awoldance.org if you need to work on an act that requires nudity.

  • We have rigging checks twice a year.
